Emirates EK31 descends below 10,000 feet with emergency squawk 7700 still active
Cabin crew assisted the passenger, and the flight landed safely before it was expected to continue to London Heathrow around 6 p.m. local time.
On Thursday, October 1, 2026, Emirates flight EK31 diverted from Dubai to London Heathrow to Frankfurt after a passenger experienced a medical emergency onboard the aircraft.
Flight EK31 transmitted squawk code 7700, the universal signal for a general emergency, and landed safely at Frankfurt Airport at approximately 4:14 pm local time.
Cabin crew provided necessary medical support to the passenger during the flight, while Emirates coordinated with authorities to arrange immediate assistance upon arrival in Germany.
Emirates apologized to customers for the delay, stating "the health and safety of our passengers and crew is always our highest priority," and confirmed the aircraft will resume its journey to London Heathrow at 6 pm.
Unlike recent disruptions caused by technical issues at the National Air Traffic Services, this diversion resulted from an individual medical emergency rather than a system-wide failure.
