Emergency declared on Jet2 flight from Liverpool Airport
The Boeing 737-800 stopped climbing after 11 minutes and transmitted squawk 7700 before diverting toward Manchester Airport, officials said.
A Jet2 flight bound for Palma declared an emergency shortly after departing Liverpool John Lennon Airport on Thursday, diverting toward Manchester Airport.
Flight LS3251, operated by a Boeing 737-800, stopped climbing at 15,000 feet approximately 11 minutes into the flight before the crew transmitted squawk 7700, the international emergency code.
Flightradar24 data shows the jet changed direction near Shrewsbury, with the emergency signal declared at 12,875 feet while the aircraft was near Manchester.
The flight is expected to land safely at Manchester Airport, having originally taken off from Liverpool bound for Palma before the mid-flight diversion.
Jet2 and airport authorities have not confirmed the reason for the emergency, though the aircraft now appears to be heading toward Manchester Airport following the 7700 alert.
