Emergency declaration sought for storm-battered Jersey Shore

U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew is calling on Gov. Phil Murphy and Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill to declare a state of emergency to free up federal funding after recent storms battered the Jersey Shore.The request follows a series of powerful storms that brought intense wind, waves, and flooding, carving out towering sand cliffs in Ocean City, damaging infrastructure in Bay Head, and leaving parts of Monmouth Beach nearly bare.
