According to polls, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's strongest challenger in October's parliamentary elections has come out strongly against a two-state solution. The vision of an independent Palestinian state peacefully existing alongside Israel is a "painful mistake," former army chief Gadis Eisenkot told the Israel Hayom newspaper.
