Golden Knights Snag Division Edge with Victory over Jets
Mark Stone and Jack Eichel combined for seven points as Vegas won 6-2 and moved within one victory of the Pacific Division title.
On Monday, the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Winnipeg Jets 6-2 at T-Mobile Arena, moving Vegas closer to winning a fifth Pacific Division title in nine seasons.
Winnipeg's playoff hopes were officially extinguished during the loss when the Los Angeles Kings secured the final Western Conference playoff spot, eliminating the Jets for the first time since 2021-22.
Captain Mark Stone scored his fourth goal in three games, while centre Jack Eichel tallied a goal and three assists, extending the Golden Knights' 6-0-1 run under head coach John Tortorella.
Jets forward prospect Brayden Yager made his NHL debut in the contest, while goaltender Connor Hellebuyck made 32 saves in his 57th start of the season.
Vegas hosts the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday needing one point to secure the division title and home-ice advantage, while the Jets visit the Utah Mammoth on Tuesday to close their road schedule.
