On Monday, December 15, Efraín Medina Valenzuela, who was the general director of intelligence of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) during the government of Ignacio Peralta Sánchez, died following a direct armed attack. The former official died minutes after entering a hospital while receiving emergency medical care. His wife, who accompanied him at the time of the attack, was also injured in the attack.
