Police say 1 person has died after shooting at weekend lakeside party in Oklahoma
Police said the victims include gunshot wounds, with seven hospitalized in critical or serious condition and no suspects in custody.
On Sunday, May 3, 2026, gunfire erupted at an unsanctioned 'Sunday Funday' event near Scissortail Campground at Arcadia Lake in Edmond, injuring 23 people, Edmond Police confirmed.
The gathering appeared to be a large party of young adults promoted across social media, drawing attendees from across the Oklahoma City metro area, according to Edmond Police spokesperson Emily Ward.
INTEGRIS Health updated the injury count to 18 patients, ranging in age from 16 to 30, with additional victims treated at OU Health's Level 1 Trauma Center and INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center.
Edmond Mayor Mark Nash called the incident 'a tragedy' and said the city is reviewing park operations and security measures to maintain community standards following the shooting.
This incident is one of at least 131 mass shootings in the U.S. so far in 2026, according to the Gun Violence Archive, and marks the highest number of victims in Oklahoma history.
