Greg Smith agrees to $12,000 ethics fine over improper pay raises, vacation time
State Rep. Greg Smith has agreed to close out two public corruption investigations into his conduct by paying a $12,000 ethics fine and committing to repay $33,000 in improper salary he took from an eastern Oregon entity. The stipulated agreement he signed goes to the Oregon Government Ethics Commission for approval on Friday, Aug. 14. The fine is the largest assessed since a $20,000 levy in November 2018 against a former state agency official. …
