Maharashtra's Hingoli Sees Two Mild Tremors Within Hours; No Casualties Reported
A 4.5 magnitude jolt followed a 3.3 magnitude tremor, and officials said the district reported no casualties or property damage.
On Saturday morning, two tremors measuring 3.3 and 4.5 magnitude struck Hingoli, Maharashtra, within two hours of each other, triggering brief panic among residents though officials reported no casualties or property damage.
Seismic activity has occurred in the Hingoli region at intervals for the past six years, including tremors of 4.6 and 3.5 magnitude on July 9 and July 11 that reportedly caused cracks in some houses.
Recorded at 7:46 a.m., the first 3.3 magnitude tremor had an epicenter 7 km deep in Gadhala village of Aundha Nagnath tehsil, while a stronger 4.5 magnitude jolt followed two hours later across several district areas.
Residents of Pimpaldari and nearby areas reported hearing rumbling sounds that continued for several minutes before the second tremor struck, prompting local administration to urge citizens to stay calm and alert.
Adjoining Pangra Shinde village experienced similar rumbling on October 1, consistent with the region's ongoing seismic instability, as local administration noted the area has occasionally experienced such activity.
