Dry, windy conditions create extreme fire hazard for Washita County

Local fire departments have been busy with grass fires as strong winds combined with lack of precipitation have combined to create a perfect storm for wildfires, which can be started with something as simple as a chain dragging on a trailer, a tossed cigarette, or a running vehicle parked on dry grass. Residents are urged to remain diligent with any kind of open flames and to be aware of anything that could create a spark.
