James O'Donnell drove nearly three times over the alcohol limit at 63mph in a 30mph zone, killing cyclist Keith Hornby and was sentenced to 11 years and eight months in prison.
- James O'Donnell was jailed on Friday at Liverpool Crown Court for 11 years and eight months after pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, drink-driving and failing to stop.
- The crash on Tarbock Road in Huyton occurred on March 5 last year at around 12.20pm, killing 63-year-old Keith Hornby, a devoted son and primary carer for his elderly mother.
- A breath test and CCTV captured his intoxication and actions after the crash, with a breath test result of 99mg per 100ml and Detective Sergeant Andy Roper said, 'Having struck Mr Hornby, O’Donnell then showed absolutely no remorse or concern for what he had done'.
