The Garonne is in a situation of "crisis" between the Pyrenees and Toulouse, announced Friday 25 September the prefecture of Haute-Garonne. The prefecture of Haute-Garonne had announced in a press release a few days earlier that the Garonne had reached an "enhanced warning threshold" due to the rainfall deficit and the high heats.
Faced with an unprecedented situation, the authorities imposed exceptional measures to preserve the Garonne, while the region suffered record heat and drought.

The historic lack of rain and high heat forces the authorities to impose exceptional water restrictions while the reserves of the Pyrenean dams run out of water.
"On the Garonne, we had never had to pass even a segment at the level of crisis," said Baptiste Mandard, secretary general of the Haute-Garonne prefecture.
