Drones Built in Cyprus Help Ukrainian Artillery Target Enemy Positions
Over 200 Poseidon H-10 drones built by Swarmly in Cyprus have flown 100,000 hours aiding Ukrainian artillery to precisely strike enemy targets in all weather conditions.
- Earlier this year, Cyprus and other small EU members expanded domestic drone production, driven by Russia's invasion of Ukraine and Kyiv's technology partnership.
- Last week, the EU's executive arm approved financial assistance for eight members including Cyprus, which awaits final approval for 30 million euros in SAFE loans and began its EU presidency on Jan. 1.
- Manufacturer Swarmly reports more than 200 H-10 Poseidon drones aiding Ukrainian artillery and over 100,000 flight hours, with its 5,000-square-meter factory exporting to Indonesia, Benin, Nigeria, India and Saudi Arabia.
- UAVs are reshaping warfare as force multipliers for less militarily capable countries, with each unit costing 80,000 euros, company director Gary Rafalovsky said.
- Like Cyprus, Baltic countries and Denmark have ramped up drone and counter-drone technology, with many EU states partnering with Kyiv and experts warning UAV advantages are limited by conditions, training, and logistics.
