England Golf says the 411-yard ace at Great Barr Golf Club may be the longest hole-in-one ever recorded in England.
On July 25, 2026, Matt Vigurs hit a 411-yard hole-in-one on the third hole at Great Barr Golf Club in Sandwell, a feat record-keepers believe could be the longest in British history.
Vigurs, a 32-year-old with a +1 handicap, returned to golf this February after eight years abroad and won the Worcestershire County Championship at Blackwell in June.
"I played a little cut off the oak tree," Vigurs said of his par-4 drive, admitting he felt "stupid" checking the hole because he did not expect to find his ball in the cup.
England Golf is verifying the shot, which carries estimated odds of 6 million to one for an albatross, while Vigurs has requested a flag from Great Barr Golf Club as a keepsake.
Vigurs aims to perform well at the English Champion of Champions event in September at Woodhall Spa while continuing his season-long pursuit of further silverware despite this historic achievement.
