Route 2 east was closed near Fitchburg and Leominster Tuesday evening due to a crash involving a fuel spill, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT). MassDOT warned drivers about the crash on social media at 3:45 p.m. The eastbound side of the highway is expected to remain closed through the Tuesday evening commute, MassDOT said.
