- Siti Hasmah passed away at age 100 on Monday, September 28, at IJN in Kuala Lumpur, three days before Mahathir's visit. The couple had been married for 70 years after meeting while studying medicine in Singapore.
- Spending approximately 20 minutes at the gravesite, the 101-year-old Mahathir offered prayers and scattered flowers while appearing emotional. His press secretary, Sufi Yusoff, told NST that Mahathir was tired after getting little sleep following his wife's death.
- Earlier, Datuk Marina Mahathir, the couple's eldest daughter, also visited the grave. Prominent singer Datuk Ramli Sarip and other members of the public paid their respects following the state funeral ceremony held earlier this week.
