A severe thunderstorm with lightning, hail and winds of around 90 kilometres per hour swept through Bratislava on Sunday evening. A phenomenon called a downburst, which is defined as an extremely strong downward flow of air, devastated the Danube promenade in particular. Fortunately, no one was injured.
A severe storm swept through the Slovak capital Bratislava on Sunday, causing damage to the Danube embankment and the area around Bratislava Castle. It required 19 firefighting operations and 20 city police operations.
On Sunday evening, a storm with winds of at least 75 km/h battered the Danube bank area in Bratislava, causing significant damage.
The combination of high temperatures and dry weather also brings with it an increased risk of fires.
