Dog survives 44 hours in rubble after EF-4 tornado levels homes in Oklahoma
The tornado leveled dozens of homes and injured at least 10 people, while the family’s 13-year-old Rottweiler mix was found alive after 44 hours.
A dog named Pup was reunited with owner Kay Dragoun after surviving 44 hours trapped under debris following an EF-4 tornado that struck Enid, Oklahoma, on Thursday.
Late Thursday, a violent tornado ripped through an Enid neighborhood just south of Vance Air Force Base, damaging 40 homes and injuring at least 10 people in the destruction.
Dragoun feared the worst after discovering Pup's collar in the debris, stating, "Somewhere her collar was found, and that terrified me in that the wind might've picked her up."
Rescuers discovered Pup alive in the mudroom rubble after 44 hours, with Dragoun saying, "She spent 44 hours in the mudroom, in the rubble, and she is alive."
Dragoun hopes their story inspires kindness and encourages residents to donate to their local animal shelters, emphasizing the importance of community support during recovery.
