'Do not eat': Tesco, Sainsbury's, Lidl and more UK supermarkets issue recalls
Recalls cover products with undeclared allergens like milk, peanuts, and soya, plus contamination risks including Listeria and botulinum toxin, affecting major UK retailers, Food Standards Agency said.
- On Thursday 11 September the Food Standards Agency issued `do not eat` warnings covering recalls at Tesco, Sainsbury's and Lidl for products within their use-by dates.
- Health authorities said contamination risks included Listeria monocytogenes in salads and possible Clostridium botulinum in broccoli, while undeclared allergens such as milk and soya led to recalls.
- Rude Health recalled the Chocolate Crunch Granola over possible insects in the 400g granola box with a best-before date of October 24.
- Customers are being told not to eat affected items and to return them for a full refund, retailers must stop sales, withdraw products, display point-of-sale notices, and anyone unwell should contact NHS 111 or a GP.
- Given Listeria's risks, health warnings emphasise that people over 65, pregnant women and unborn babies are vulnerable; point-of-sale notices will explain recalls and advise customers.
