Disney quietly raises price of Hulu and ESPN+ bundle
The $3 increase will add about $36 a year for long-time subscribers as Disney narrows the gap with current plans.
- Beginning September 17, 2026, Disney is raising the monthly cost of its legacy streaming bundle from $24.99 to $27.99 for existing subscribers. The package includes ad-free Disney+, ad-supported Hulu, and ESPN Select.
- ESPN is concurrently raising prices on several subscription plans, with ESPN Unlimited increasing $2 to $31.99 monthly and ESPN Select rising $1 to $13.99. These hikes reflect broader industry pricing adjustments.
- According to Ampere Analysis, Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon have reduced average price increases from 24% in 2023/24 to 14% in 2025/26. Ad-free tiers have seen larger hikes than ad-supported options .
- The latest increases add an extra $36 annually to many streaming tabs. Subscribers who cancel or switch from legacy bundles cannot re-enroll later, effectively locking long-time customers into their current plans.
- Maximizing access to ESPN streaming services remains a priority, Chairman Jimmy Pitaro wrote in an August 20 memo. The company moves forward with "absolute confidence" one year after launching its direct-to-consumer platform.
