Dershowitz to sit for questioning in House Epstein probe
The former Epstein lawyer says he wants to testify publicly and deny wrongdoing as the committee expands its probe into the 2008 plea deal.
Alan Dershowitz is scheduled to interview with the House Oversight Committee on July 20 as part of the panel's ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.
In 2008, Dershowitz helped negotiate a controversial plea deal for Epstein, allowing the financier to plead guilty to Florida state prostitution charges in exchange for federal immunity; he served 13 months in prison.
Virginia Giuffre previously accused Epstein of trafficking her to Dershowitz, but she withdrew the claim in 2022, stating she "may have made a mistake"; Dershowitz has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing connected to Epstein.
The House Oversight Committee has questioned several high-profile figures regarding Epstein, including Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Bill Gates, and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
Dershowitz claims he wants "complete transparency" and is prepared to testify about everything, including his knowledge regarding billionaire Les Wexner, having volunteered for the past few months.
