At a meeting with Serbian journalists at the embassy in Belgrade, Fazli said that according to international law, sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz belongs to Iran and Oman, countries that are on opposite sides of that strategically important waterway.

Referring to the agreement with Oman, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament said: "A significant part of the Strait of Hormuz, both at the entrance and exit, is under the control of Iran, and we reached an agreement with Oman, and even the King of Oman has accepted it."
