- On Feb. 1, 2026 Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche defended the U.S. Department of Justice's Epstein file release, saying, `There are a small number of documents...that are waiting for a judge to say we can release because of a protective order. But this review is over`.
- A lawmaker-driven mandate and a prior leak prompted the Epstein Files Transparency Act's broad public release after a contractor who leaked documents pleaded guilty in 2023.
- After reviewing over 6 million items, DOJ said it released more than 3 million pages, 2,000 videos, and 180,000 images, with about.001% redaction errors, Blanche said.
- Rep. Thomas Massie accused Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche of lying about review efforts, saying he would post receipts, while lawmakers and survivors called for access to unredacted files at DOJ facilities.
