DeMar DeRozan Agrees with Nuggets on 1-Year Deal for Veteran Minimum, AP Source Says
The six-time All-Star brings a $3.9 million scoring boost and forces Denver to decide whether he starts or leads the second unit.
On Friday, six-time NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million deal with the Denver Nuggets, joining his fifth team seeking his first championship in his 18th season.
Denver coaches and front office staff recruited DeRozan in recent weeks to serve as an additional playmaker, securing his commitment over the Miami Heat, Washington Wizards, and New Orleans Pelicans.
Entering his 18th season, DeRozan maintains durability by appearing in at least 70 games in each of the past five years while averaging 18.4 points on nearly 50% shooting.
Head coach David Adelman must now decide whether to install DeRozan into the starting lineup or deploy him as a veteran sixth man to anchor bench-heavy stretches.
The move follows the August trade of Peyton Watson to the Cleveland Cavaliers, which thinned Denver's wing rotation as the team prepares for the 2026-27 season.
