Deliberations in Lindsay Clancy murder trial end for the day without a verdict
Jurors will weigh first-degree murder against a postpartum psychosis defense as the former nurse faces life without parole if convicted.
Jurors in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy adjourned deliberations for the day in Plymouth, Massachusetts, without reaching a verdict; they will resume at 9 a.m. Friday.
Clancy faces three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Cora, Dawson, and Callan Clancy, with jurors determining whether she acted with premeditation or suffered from mental illness.
Defense attorney Kevin Reddington argued Clancy suffered from postpartum psychosis, citing "lousy medical care," while presenting a honeymoon "wish box" from Hawaii to demonstrate her prior devotion to her children.
Prosecutor Jennifer Sprague contended Clancy planned the killings by sending her husband on errands to secure time, arguing she lied to mental health providers about dark thoughts.
If jurors find Clancy not guilty of murder, they may consider a manslaughter conviction carrying up to 20 years in prison, or a six-month commitment to a state mental hospital.
