Delhi BJP Seeks Clarification From MLA Gajendra Drall over Assault Allegations; AAP Mounts Attack
Police booked the MLA and other BJP workers after a mandal president alleged he was assaulted, confined and abused with caste slurs.
- On Tuesday, the Delhi Police registered an FIR at Kanjhawala Police Station against Mundka BJP MLA Gajendra Drall under the SC/ST Act, following assault allegations by party worker Sunil Kumar.
- Kumar alleged he was called to the party office on Thursday under false pretenses to discuss voter lists, where he was confined overnight and beaten with pipes and subjected to casteist slurs.
- Following the assault, Kumar was admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, and authorities invoked the Arms Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 115, 127, 140, 351, 61, and 3.
- The incident triggered political backlash from the AAP and Congress, while the Delhi BJP Disciplinary Committee directed Drall and Kumar to appear for a hearing on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
- Police continue to investigate the assault allegations, while officials confirmed receiving a separate counter-complaint filed by Drall that remains under review.
