Estonia receives first medium-range air defense system
The newly acquired IRIS-T SLM system will allow Estonia to engage aerial threats at greater distances and higher altitudes than its existing short-range air defense systems, according to the Estonian Defense Forces.
One of the three ordered German Iris-T systems has arrived in Estonia. The country has been under direct threat since Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
On Monday, the Air Defense Division at Ämari Air Base received the IRIS-T SLM mobile air defense missile systems manufactured by the German defense industry company Diehl Defence, acquired by the State Defense Investment Center (RKIK), which give the Defense Forces the ability to influence air threats from further away and higher, as well as the ability to respond to various air threats.

The Estonian military and manufacturer Diehl Defence announced that the first German-made Iris-T medium-range air defense system was delivered to Estonia's Amari air base southwest of Tallinn on Monday.
