Since we recently touched on this topic on Antyweb, it's worth sharing how the vote on the future of AI in the legendary Linux distribution went. And we already know that Debian will not prohibit the use of generative AI in creating code, packages, and documentation. However, the winning option clearly states: a human is still responsible for every result of the tool's work.
The Debian community decided not to ban or institutionally support the use of generational AI tools in the development, packaging and documentation of the project. The demands of quality, legality, safety and human review remain intact.
