On Wednesday, armed fighters attacked the villages of Kori Kori and Gomossogou in the Mopti region, killing at least 30 people around 4 p.m., according to military governor Col. Olivier Diassana.

One day earlier, armed fighters stormed Kenieroba Central Prison, a complex about 60 km southwest of Bamako housing 2,500 inmates, including at least 72 considered "high value" by the Malian state.
Malian army commander Djibrilla Maiga stated the threat is "still present," though forces are disrupting maneuvering attempts by fighters currently focusing on blocking roads leading to the capital, Bamako.
