Stars' Benn to Undergo Surgery
Jamie Benn will miss at least four weeks recovering from surgery, sidelining him for the preseason and early regular season, the Dallas Stars said.
- On Thursday, Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced Jamie Benn will undergo surgery for a collapsed lung.
- During Tuesday's preseason game, Benn suffered an upper-body injury late in the third period against the Minnesota Wild in a 3-2 overtime win, and Glen Gulutzan, Dallas Stars head coach, said Benn is out day-to-day.
- On contract terms, Benn signed a one-year, $1 million contract with up to $3 million in performance bonuses and has 399 goals and 956 points in 1,192 games.
- Losing Benn for at least four weeks means he’ll miss the rest of the Dallas Stars’ preseason and could miss the first seven regular-season games, the team said.
- Dallas has four more tune-ups before getting the regular season underway on October 9 against the Winnipeg Jets, and if the timeline holds, Benn could potentially return Oct. 25.
