In Switzerland, 5730 Windows remote accesses can be accessed directly from the Internet. With more than 1400 of them, the login screen appears before authentication. The configurations differ significantly between the individual networks.
Risikomonitor has identified 5,730 Windows remote access services accessible from the internet in Switzerland. Of those whose version could be identified, 27.5% set up a session before authentication. The study also highlights large differences between hosting networks.
With every fourth Windows remote access, attackers can reach the login screen without any hurdle, as a company from Austria has determined. Compared to the neighbouring country, the country does worse – the reasons are the default settings of the providers and outdated systems.
