- Citizen Lab found her two telephones were infected by Pegasus in April 2018, and the complaint says the infection coincided with her interrogation at a United Arab Emirates airport.
- Amnesty International reported that Pegasus has 11 government clients and can access phone cameras, microphones, and data, while NSO Group, Israel-based maker of Pegasus, faces lawsuits including a US injunction barring targeting of WhatsApp users.
- The French judiciary will now decide whether to open an investigation into the complaint, with attorneys William Bourdon and Vincent Brengarth saying it would be unthinkable not to link the interception to the murder.
- In Washington, the case has drawn attention after a US intelligence assessment named Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and US President Donald Trump defended the prince last month.
