Blue Jays-Cubs Has Been Postponed by Rain
The teams will make up the game Aug. 6 after the National Weather Service forecast 1 to 2 inches of rain or more.
On Sunday, June 21, the Chicago Cubs postponed their series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays at Wrigley Field due to inclement weather, calling the game off approximately two hours before the scheduled 1:20 p.m. CST first pitch.
The two teams split the first two games of their weekend series at Wrigley Field; Chicago dominated the opener 16-2 on Friday, but Toronto rallied from a 5-0 deficit to secure an 8-6 victory on Saturday.
Both teams will return to Wrigley Field on August 6 at 1:20 p.m. to play the makeup game, with fans holding tickets for the original Sunday contest having their tickets automatically updated in the MLB ballpark app.
The Cubs travel to New York for a four-game series beginning Monday night against the Mets, while Toronto returns home for a 10-game homestand starting Monday against the Houston Astros.
As the playoff race intensifies, both teams agreed to the August makeup date recognizing the extra game could prove critical; the Cubs currently hold a 40-37 record while the Blue Jays sit at 38-39.
