MIAMI – The Chicago Cubs today recalled right-handed pitcher Javier Assad from Triple-A Iowa. In a corresponding move, the team optioned right-handed pitcher Tyler Ferguson to Iowa. Assad, 29, is 6-1 with a 3.46 ERA (32 ER/83.1 IP) in 22 games this season for the Cubs including 10 starts.
