Economy - Another critical hurdle is being overcome at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant before the commissioning of the first power unit. Experts from the World Nuclear Operators Association are testing control room operators with challenging simulation scenarios.
The pre-operation evaluation work for the 1st power unit of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, which will be the first in Turkey, under construction in Mersin, has begun. Within the scope of the evaluation, 3 controlled scenarios will be implemented in the full-scale simulator, which are prepared in close proximity to real operating conditions.
According to a statement from Akkuyu Nuclear Inc., an expert team will evaluate the professional knowledge and skills of the control room operators of the first power unit using the "Check Personnel Performance" (CPO) method.
