Court to Rule on Ex-President Yoon's Trial over Appointment of Former Envoy to Australia

- Special counsel Lee Myeong-hyeon had requested a five-year prison sentence for Yoon, while the court also acquitted co-defendants former National Security Adviser Cho Tae-yong and former Justice Minister Park Sung-jae.
- Despite the acquittal, Yoon remains embroiled in multiple criminal trials after his removal from office in April 2025, including an ongoing appeal against a life sentence for his 2024 martial law decree.
- Separately, special counsel Min Joong-ki requested a four-year prison term for Yoon on Friday regarding an appellate trial on receiving free opinion polls worth 137.2 million won during his 2022 presidential campaign.
