Mario Kart World Update Adds Classics Tracks Free for Nintend Switch 2 Players Later Today
Nintendo is adding 10 Super Mario Kart courses and two new KO Tour routes in a free 1.8.0 update.
Today, Nintendo released the Version 1.8.0 update for Mario Kart World, adding 10 classic tracks from Super Mario Kart playable in Versus mode.
These tracks were previously hidden within the game world, serving only as exploration rewards and timed P-Switch missions before becoming fully playable race courses.
Beyond the retro tracks, Mario Kart World added two new routes for Knockout Tour: Propeller Rally and Turnip Rally, marking the first time this elimination-style mode received new content.
Revealed during the September Nintendo Direct, the update arrives alongside a free Mario Kart Deluxe upgrade for Switch adding eight-player split-screen and visual improvements.
Since its release in 2025, Mario Kart World has sold 15.3 million copies despite a complicated fan response to its open-world design focus.
