CMA to Pay Tribute to Dolly Parton with ABC Live Special
The two-hour special will raise money for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and feature performances, archival footage and personal stories.
The Country Music Association announced a live, two-hour tribute special, "CMA Presents I Will Always Love You: A Celebration of Dolly Parton," airing Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+.
This tribute honors the iconic singer-songwriter who died on August 25 at age 80 following a "brief battle" with cancer, according to representatives for the late star.
Filmed at the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Belmont University in Nashville, the event will feature performances, archival footage, and personal stories from friends and fans.
Executive producer Robert Deaton is leading the project, while the CMA and Belmont University will donate proceeds to the "Imagination Library," the literacy program Parton founded in Tennessee.
Viewers can stream the tribute on Hulu the day after it airs, with organizers planning to announce performers, tickets, and additional partners in the coming weeks.
