- Daker achieved prominence for his portrayal of Harry Crawford in the ITV comedy-drama Boon, where his character engaged in business ventures involving "various shady characters or criminal underworld figures" alongside co-star Michael Elphick.
- Earlier in his career, Daker starred in the BBC drama Z-Cars, where he played Owen Culshaw in more than 80 episodes, and also appeared in Coronation Street, Doctor Who, and Porridge.
- The fan page Only Fools and Legends paid tribute to Daker, writing, "Whether playing tough guys, comic characters or dependable mates, David Daker's talent and versatility left a lasting mark on British television and theatre."
- Before acting, Daker trained as a draughtsman for two years and undertook national service in the RAF; he is survived by his second wife Hilary, daughter Rebecca, son Tim, and sister Hazel.
