Cook Report: U.S. Senate a 'True Tossup'
Cook analysts said Democrats have gained ground in several races as their model shifted three contests toward the party.
The Cook Political Report shifted its forecast for Senate control to a "true toss up," signaling that either party now has a realistic chance of winning the majority.
Over the last month, odds have increasingly favored Democrats, who must net four seats to reclaim the Senate with a projected range of outcomes between one and five seats.
In Georgia, the Cook Report moved the race to "Likely Democrat," where incumbent Sen. Jon Ossoff holds a $42 million fundraising advantage over Rep. Mike Collins.
The report also shifted Kansas and South Carolina toward Democrats, citing beef tariffs, fuel costs, and the Iran War as key dividing lines between candidates in these contested races.
Analyst Jessica Taylor noted that third-party candidates in states like Texas, Iowa, and Ohio could mean Democrats do not necessarily need to hit 50% to win certain races.
