Newborn Baby Who Washed up on Beach 'May Have Been in Water for Weeks'
Police said the baby may have been in the water for weeks as detectives continue door-to-door enquiries and appeals for information.
On Sunday, North Wales Police discovered a baby girl's body on the Menai Strait shoreline in Bangor, Gwynedd, after a member of the public found the infant. A post-mortem examination confirmed the newborn was a girl.
Police revealed on Thursday that the newborn may have been in the water for weeks. Officers near Siliwen Road are seeking expert guidance on tidal currents from oceanographers to determine where the child entered the water.
Fiona Giraud, director of midwifery at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, appealed directly to the mother, saying, "Please do not feel that you have to face this alone." Giraud emphasized that welfare and medical support are priorities.
Door-to-Door enquiries are ongoing in the area where the body was discovered. Police confirmed that following an earlier appeal this week, numerous calls have been received from the public, with all information treated seriously.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting Operation Melex, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Further tests are currently underway to provide additional information about the infant's death.
