Collingwood Boil Water Advisory Remains in Effect, Town Offers Bottled Water
Residents must boil or use bottled water and reduce usage while crews repair the main; local restaurants are closed and bottled-water pickup sites are available.
- On Friday, the Town of Collingwood declared a boil-water advisory after a major water main break at the Pretty River Parkway and Hume Street intersection, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit said.
- Crews completed the watermain repair around 2:45 a.m. Saturday and collected water samples while the Town of Collingwood said its water treatment plant stayed operational.
- The town opened bottled-water distribution at Central Park Arena and the Royal Canadian Legion Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., while residents flocked to stores, and three pallets sold out within 45 minutes.
- Mayor Yvonne Hamlin said the town's emergency management team has been convened and urged residents and businesses not to consume tap water while crews work near Pretty River Parkway and Hume Street.
- Officials say the advisory could last up to five days as laboratory testing will not complete over the weekend, with the Town of Collingwood promising an update Saturday .
