Former NFL QB ‘Hurt’ After Losing Job with NBC’s ‘Sunday Night Football’
NBC is adding Mike Tomlin to the desk as the network reshapes its Sunday night studio show.
On Monday, former NFL quarterback Chris Simms announced he is leaving NBC's "Football Night in America," where he had served as an analyst since 2017.
NBC is revamping its studio coverage for 2026, adding former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin to the desk as Simms was cast aside in favor of the legendary leader.
During a "Pro Football Talk Live" broadcast, Simms disclosed that NBC informed him of the decision last week, stating, "That hurt because I do love it." Former NFL head coach Tony Dungy also departed.
Despite leaving the program, Simms remains an analyst for NBC's Notre Dame Fighting Irish coverage and will continue co-hosting "ProFootballTalk Live" alongside Mike Florio.
Prior to broadcasting, Simms played eight seasons in the NFL, including stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans, and Denver Broncos.
