Imports of small parcels from China into the European Union have fallen by 30 to 40 percent since the introduction of a new levy. Major Asian online retailers Shein, Temu, and AliExpress are particularly affected by the measure, which Brussels introduced to curb the strong growth of low-cost parcel shipments.
The 3 euro duty on small parcels worth less than 150 euros, which came into effect on July 1, 2026, creates new data in the European market.
Since the introduction of the three-euro levy, the French customs has registered up to 40 percent fewer small shipments. Temu and AliExpress are particularly affected.
