Now in 83 of the 96 metropolitan departments, tiger mosquitoes have been subject to enhanced surveillance since 1 May, following an explosion of chikungunya cases last year.
Since 1 May, France has officially entered a period of enhanced surveillance of mosquito-borne diseases.
With 809 indigenous cases of chikungunya in metropolitan France, 2025 set a record. Faced with this, the health authorities urge to remain "all vigilant" to limit the risks of the import and spread of all types of mosquito-borne diseases.
Health vigilance remains in Mauritius against chikungunya, leptospirosis and Mpox. According to the latest data available on Monday, May 4, 2026, the health authorities call on the population not to trivialize these diseases, considered potentially dangerous.
