Cheong Wa Dae Denies Ukraine Claim that S. Korea Supplied ...
On Wednesday, South Korea's presidential office denied accusations from a Ukrainian official that it supplied fuel to Russia, rejecting claims it violated international sanctions against Moscow.
Vladyslav Vlasiuk, an adviser to the Ukrainian president, alleged on Facebook that over 176,000 tons of fuel were shipped from Korea to Russia via sanctioned tankers in July and August, citing The Guardian.
Official trade statistics from the National Security Office show no exports of diesel, gasoline, or jet fuel to Russia, noting such fuel is not on Korea's list of 1,402 export-controlled items.
Rejecting the accusations as 'inappropriate,' presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung urged Ukraine to stop distorting South Korea's policies without fact-checking, warning it could damage international trust.
The government is currently verifying facts regarding the specific transactions cited by Vlasiuk, with Kang affirming that South Korea will take necessary action if any problems are found.
