Chelsea Produce Stunning Blitz to Beat Leeds in Cup
Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto sparked a six-minute turnaround as Chelsea scored four times in 12 minutes to beat Leeds 6-3.
Chelsea produced a dramatic second-half comeback to defeat Leeds United 6-3 in the English League Cup on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge, scoring four goals in 12 minutes to overturn a 2-0 deficit.
Daniel Farke's Leeds led 2-0 after goals from Tarik Muharemovic in the 23rd minute and Brenden Aaronson three minutes after the break against a Chelsea side showing nine changes from Sunday's defeat to Arsenal.
Everything changed after Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso sent on substitutes at halftime, as Cole Palmer equalized with two goals in two minutes, then Pedro Neto scored to complete the turnaround.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin briefly offered hope for Leeds with a 75th-minute goal, but Valentin Barco scored his first Chelsea goal in the 80th minute and Welbeck added a stoppage-time header to seal the victory.
The result marks Leeds' first defeat of the season after they had conceded only two goals in four prior matches, while Chelsea has now allowed multiple goals in four of their five games this campaign.
