The US military has launched a tender process with 30 companies for inexpensive interceptor missiles to replenish its depleted Patriot missile stockpiles. Having depleted 65% of its stockpiles due to the Iran-Iraq conflict and the Ukraine crisis, Washington is seeking low-cost alternatives to its PAC-3 missiles, which cost up to $5 million each.
