Chandranath Rath killing: SUV blocked, shots fired, ‘killers waited for him to die’
On Thursday, unidentified assailants hurled crude bombs at BJP workers in Panihati, West Bengal, injuring five people admitted to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
This incident occurred hours after the murder of Chandranath Rath, a close aide to BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in Madhyamgram, which police described as a "planned hit."
The blast took place near the residence of newly elected BJP MLA Ratna Debnath, where witnesses reported four bike-borne assailants targeted the group on Dutta Road.
Personnel from the Khardah police station and central forces arrived to control the situation, initiating an investigation by reviewing CCTV footage to identify suspects.
Director General of Police Siddh Nath Gupta reported that officers filed over 200 FIRs and arrested 433 people, as Adhikari claims a "politics of vendetta" has plagued West Bengal for over a decade.
