CREST Funds Misappropriation Case: CBI Files Chargesheet Against IFoS Officer, Wife
The federal probe agency says the accused conspired to divert official money and used forged fixed deposits in a wider fraud case.
- On Friday, The Central Bureau filed a chargesheet against Indian Forest Service officer Naveen Srivastava, the former CREST CEO accused of misappropriating Rs 75.4 crore from official accounts.
- This case stems from a larger banking fraud at the IDFC First Bank branch in Sector-32, Chandigarh, where Srivastava allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy while serving as CREST CEO.
- Investigators allege Srivastava laundered Rs 95 lakh through Vipam Consultancy Pvt, a company directed by his wife, to acquire immovable property with the defrauded funds.
- Srivastava remains in judicial custody following his arrest, while The Central Bureau continues investigating a wider scam involving Rs 504 crore siphoned from eight Haryana departments.
- Separately, the agency has taken over a third case regarding the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, filing charges against seven accused for defrauding the Smart City project of Rs 78 crore.
